When Scouts went to transfer from one obstacle to the next they would ask their partner on the ground below "May I please switch my carabineers?"  At which point their partner was supposed to answer "Yes, but only one at a time."  This was to remind Scouts that they were supposed to have at least one carabineer attached to the safety lines at ALL times.
