There are no pictures of it, but after we left there we headed out to
our campsite "down range". Unfortunately when we got there we
found knee to waist high dead grass growing everywhere, with a breeze
blowing. All of the adults, (and some of the older Scouts), were
all quite concerned about cooking fires. None of us felt
comfortable even using gas stoves or the portable fire pit we had
brought. In the end we decided to head back out to the regular
campsite we had the night before. There the grass was mowed, they
had real firepits and plenty of water. There had been lots of
grass fires in the down range area of Camp Ripley, and none of us
wanted the Troop to be the ones who started the next grass fire.
