Sanitation
& Safety (and why they are important to
you!)
Some simple sanitation tips that will keep you from having a
very bad weekend:
- Cook food thoroughly!
- Keep perishable foods cold
- Wash dishes using the 3 pot method!!!
- Wash hands thoroughly with hot soapy water prior to cooking, and after handling any raw meat
- If there are any doubts that your perishables were kept at the proper temerature, then throw them out. It's not worth the risk of getting sick on a campout
General Safety Tips for making sure things don't go wrong on a
campout:
- Keep kitchen knives stored in a safe place
- Use caution when dealing with either cook stoves or
campfires
